Learn about the net zero home of the future!

NetZero-HouseAre you ready for a home that is so energy efficient that it can offset all or most of its annual energy consumption? If so, read on to learn about a net zero home. This is a building that can produce as much energy as it consumes over the course of the year which results in a net of zero carbon admissions and a “net zero” energy bill. USI recently partnered with Shelter Dynamics and Covestro to provide insulation for the 2016 NextGen Net Zero Home.

Here’s a video that shows part of the building process and how USI applied spray foam insulation to create this airtight and ultra-insulated home of the future:

2016 NextGen Net Zero Home

As codes call for greater energy efficiency, architects and builders have accepted the challenge to create a home with a reduced environmental impact. Therefore the 2016 NextGen Net Zero Home was created. It is airtight and contains many energy efficient features. The house was designed and built by Shelter Dynamics and USI installed the insulation from Covestro for this futuristic home.

This ultra-insulated structure also captures solar energy and other renewable products to produce sufficient electricity to meet the energy needs of the home. Since it has all these features, the building and architecture was chosen by NextGen Home TV (NGHTV) to be featured at the 2016 International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas.
